POLICE OFFICER

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The City of Hemphill is looking to hire one police officer. The City of Hemphill has four budgeted full-time police officers. The City's population is estimated at 1029 and is located in the county seat of Sabine County. Hemphill Police Officers will perform police patrol, investigation, traffic regulation, crime prevention, and related enforcement activities. The successful candidate will have knowledge of the following: criminal, civil, juvenile, traffic laws and regulations; City codes and ordinances; court systems and procedures; safety regulations applicable to motorized vehicles and equipment; radio communication; patrol vehicle camera operation; and routine vehicle and equipment maintenance. The successful candidate will have skill and proficiency in the use of firearms, weapons, radio equipment, radar, the use of a police vehicle in emergency and non-emergency situations. MUST WORK SHIFT WORK.( 4 on 4 off) Must have Patrol abilities, investigate accidents, complete reports, and testify in court when required. Must be able to manage his/her self-due to on call time. Will work most weekends and Holidays. Schedule is set by the Chief of Police, and/or Police Sergeant, who supervises officers. Must live within or near Sabine County due to on-call requirements of the position. A take-home car program may be available for those who reside within a reasonable distance of the City and if approved by the Chief.

Salary is negotiable dependent on qualifications/experience. The City provides employee health insurance for medical, prescription, dental, and vision, TMRS retirement/pension at 2:1 contribution 5%. The City provides holiday, sick, funeral, vacation, and birthday leave, and yearly incentive based on length of service and monthly salary.

ELECTRICAL LINEMAN

JOB SUMMARY:

  1. Please note that this is one position that handles multiple duties; 75‑80% electrical, 20-25% other public works departments.
  2. May work on all tasks related to city utilities, facilities and infrastructure, as directed by supervisor.
  3. Leads and assists both Apprentice and Journeymen Line Technicians with the construction, maintenance, and repairs of overhead and underground electrical distribution and transmission systems.
  4. Must possess the knowledge to work with energized line voltages up to 15 kV.
  5. Must have 3+ years of Lineman experience with an electric utility or documented Completion of a Utility Line Technician Program and Certification as a Utility Line Technician
  6. Must be willing to work a rotating on-call schedule.

     SALARY RANGE:

  1. Dependent on qualifications and experience with the possibility of a raise upon completion of the 90-day probationary period.
